We’ve done a few variations of off-road leaning XSR700’s, and the latest take is a considerably longer and lower affair.

The mods are entirely bolt on, and features an extended swingarm, updated lower travel suspension, different custom wheels and a steel blue metallic tracker body kit.

Getting the wheels right on a flat tracker build is pretty important, because wheel sizes and tyre choices make such a huge change to the way any bike rides. For this XSR, we actually built up two different sets of custom wheels for this build; a 19/19 set of wider rimmed custom wheels on maxxis flat track tyres, and an 18/21 set of traditional width dirt bike wheels running a trials rear / knobby front combination. The beach trip pics are running a mix of both wheels with 19/21, whereas the QLD XSR Ride pictures show the 19/19 wide wheel setup. Forks have adjustable spacers for the tapout springs to lower them to suit ground clearance requirements, with preload spacers to suit each setup also on hand. The shock’s also able to be swapped out for our custom YSS offroad shock if we’re needing longer stroke and travel to suit up the back. A custom subframe that slots into the stock subframe tubes mates up to a heavily reinforced alloy tail tidy to finish the rear off. We painted the bodywork in-house with a steel blue metallic that’s a bit deeper and darker than the first gen XSR900 blue paint work, and added some brushed alloy features. The seat unit has to be one of the nicest customs we’ve put together, and we probably overdid it for a dirt leaning bike, but love it exactly as it is. The exhaust progression to a high mounted setup that routes up through the swingarm can be seen when referencing the cafe shot images against the beach ride pics. There’s so many technical elements that were required to make this thing functional that it’d likely bore most, but a basic overview of the parts can be found below:
