FIELDER OILSKIN MOTO JACKET
The oilskin jacket has been a functional outdoor staple for more than a century, with a heritage that spans across the world for use in everything from agriculture to the military, and outdoor exploring in many different formats. It’s this timeless characteristic and functional minimalism that has made this style of jacket look appropriate when worn on so many different bikes, from stock to custom, new to old, road to dirt.
At Kelpi, we’ve ridden in these sorts of jackets for years, from mustering cattle with a Drizabone jacket to riding custom bikes around the hinterlands in a vintage Belstaff, and love their ample pocket space, weatherproof exterior, and classic styling that works both on and off the bike. Unfortunately, the oilskin jackets currently on the market for motorcyclists are more of a fashion item than a core piece of riding gear, with no included armour or inserts to allow for adding your own. We set about redesigning this timeless classic to be entirely moto-centric, and have come up with our Fielder Oilskin Moto Jacket, an armoured, weatherproof, easy to maintain outer that will take care of you no matter where you take it.
With an oilskin cotton shell, and a waterproof breathable membrane bonded to the underside of the fabric, this jacket does away with the need to reproof your oilskin every 4-5 years, and goes above and beyond in terms of wind and water protection.
Flexible, CE rated armour inserts across the back, shoulders and elbows come as standard, ensuring impact and slide protection when things get hairy, without being cumbersome and stiff like most armoured moto jackets currently on the market.
The jacket is sized to ensure ample room across the chest, arms and core for adding multiple layers underneath, with the width of the jacket being set by the waistbelt and wrist buttons. For this reason, many people will fit a size down from their standard jacket size, and should base their size off of their height, weight and arm length (Sizing Guide Below). For reference, Ross (Pictured) is 5’9”, 82kg and fits the S comfortably.
The Fielder is available in black, stone washed green, or cedar brown, each colour-way designed to be paired tastefully with both our black or tan Gripper gloves.
