XSR700 Custom Reshaped Seat – Low, Comfy & Refined
The Yamaha XSR700 has remained nearly unchanged for the past eight years, and for good reason—its timeless styling has made it a cult favourite. Over that time, we've helped hundreds of riders improve both comfort and aesthetics with our seat trims, but we’ve always wanted to create something that completely transforms the bike’s silhouette in one move.
This project started with our own XSR700 dirt builds, where lowering the seat height was critical for balancing raised suspension setups, but we weren’t willing to sacrifice comfort in the process. After eight months of refinement, we’re proud to offer this fully reshaped Kelpi Signature Seat—a low-profile, ergonomic, and custom-styled upgrade for XSR700 riders worldwide.
Design & Comfort
The reshaped seat pan finishes flush with the subframe, significantly refining the bike’s visual proportions. Unlike the bulky British racing saddles of the '60s and '70s, this design takes inspiration from modern global custom builds, offering a streamlined, shortened, and ergonomic profile.
Ride height is lowered by 30mm, improving flat-footing and creating a tucked-in riding position.
Ergonomic foam reshaping distributes weight across a wider contact area, reducing pressure points.
Built for both café racer and scrambler styling, with an adaptable design that suits various custom builds.
While comfort is improved for most riders, heavier riders (100kg+) may find the stock seat more suitable due to the reduction in overall foam volume. The pillion section is retained, but with its shortened profile, it’s less cushioned than stock.
Provenance & Craftsmanship
Each seat is handmade in Brisbane and built to order using a selection of the finest materials:
American Carrera distressed vinyl – durable, supple, and refined.
Italian Dinamica synthetic suede – premium grip and all-weather resilience.
Australian Dunlop foams – weight-specific density tuning for optimal support.
British Coats waxed cotton threads – for exceptional durability and UV and weather resistance.
Ordering Options
Existing Seat Update + Trim
For Australian clients, send in your stock seat, and we’ll reshape and retrim it in-house. We also offer a seat exchange program (email us for availability). This is the most cost-effective option if you're based locally.
New Seat + Trim
For international clients, we provide a brand-new OEM Yamaha seat, modified to our Kelpi Signature Shape and finished in your choice of trim. This eliminates the need for shipping your stock seat to us, ensuring a hassle-free upgrade while keeping you on the road. The OEM seat cost ($550 AUD) is added to the custom seat pricing.
Signature Trim Designs
Nasho – Black vinyl & suede, featuring a custom angled ribbed insert and pillion detail, with charcoal and black stitching.
Finke – Sandy tan vinyl, with a ridgeback into twin-stitched diamonds insert, complemented by almond and pale gold stitching.
Kimberley – Black & brown two-tone, with a black suede ribbed insert, paired with a Nullarbor brown vinyl border and pale gold/light brown stitching.
Customisation & Fitment
Fitment for all years of the XSR700 (2016-2025 so far). We welcome fully custom briefs, allowing you to modify the seat height, materials, stitching patterns and colours.
