YAMAHA XSR700 RESHAPED SEAT (2016+)

from A$560.00

The XSR700 has managed to remain almost identical for the last 8 years, and it’s timeless styling probably has a fair bit to do with that. For us, we’ve helped hundreds of XSR700 riders to get better comfort and styling out of their stock seat over that period, but we’ve always wanted to create something totally custom that changes the silhouette of the bike from stock to standout in a single move. We’ve also built a couple of XSR700 dirt bikes over the last year or two, and lowering the seat height to compensate for the jacked up suspension and wheels has been really critical, but we weren’t prepared to do that at the expense of seat comfort. Since building the first one, it’s taken us 8 months to refine the seat comfort and designs to be able to offer them to XSR700 riders worldwide.

The brief was simple… Something super custom that was comfier, lower, and worked just as well on cafe leaning builds as well as it would on scrambler styled XSR’s. From modifying the seat pan to finish flush at the end of the subframe, through to reshaping the rider and pillion profiles considerably, our custom reshaped seat changes the XSR700 styling away from the bulkier british racing saddles of the 60’s and 70’s. Instead, a more timeless styling that’s been refined across the last decade of the global custom motorcycle scene emerges; streamlined, shortened and refined into ridable art. Ride height is lowered by 30mm, improving most client’s ability to flat foot, and generally giving the feeling of being more ‘tucked in’ to the bike rather than sitting on top of it.

With complex custom insert patterns, and luxurious materials sourced from Australia (foams & threads), Italy (suedes) and America (vinyls), we make every single one of these reshaped seats to order by hand here in Brisbane, Australia. Our foam inlays are specific to each client’s weight, allowing us to get the correct densities and seat feel for each rider. We’ve taken a lot of foam away from the rider’s area, and compensated this reduction in foam height with better quality foam and a more ergonomic rider profile that disperses rider weight across a larger surface area of your thighs, butt and lower back. That said, there are limitations when reducing foam and ride height, and this seat does not provide an improvement on comfort against stock for riders above 100kg. Whilst we’ve done our best on comfort for the rider, this custom seat sits squarely in between the stock seat and the single seat lengths. It does allow a pillion rider, but the changes to the shape and size do have a negative impact on pillion comfort when compared to stock.

Existing Seat Update + Trim - send us your seat and we’ll modify your seat to the Kelpi signature shape and retrim in house (also available on a seat exchange basis - please email for availability). This option is ideal for Australian clients who are able to cheaply and easily send their seat back and forth via Australia Post.

New Seat + Trim - we’ll provide you with a new genuine seat in the Kelpi signature shape, with your choice of trim. This is often the best option for overseas clients who want the Kelpi reshaped seat, as they aren’t having to cover the expense of sending their seat to us, and they’re still able to ride their bike whilst their new custom seat is being made. The price of the stock XSR700 seat is $550 from Yamaha Australia, and this is added onto the price of the custom work.

Available in three signature designs:

Nasho - Black vinyl & suede with a custom angled ribbed insert & pillion feature. Charcoal stitching across the vinyl is paired with black stitching across the more textural suede elements.

Finke - Sandy tan vinyl with a ridgeback into twin stitched diamonds insert pattern. Almond and pale gold stitching is paired across the design, utilising intricate single stitching that mimics a twin stitch before separating into the ridgeback at the front of the insert.

Kimberley - Black & Brown two-tone with a custom angled ribbed black suede insert & pillion feature. Nullarbor brown vinyl border with pale gold and light brown detail stitching.

Whilst these seats are already made to measure, we do offer full custom services globally. If wanting to go down the custom route, clients can modify the foam height, materials, stitching colours, and insert patterns to suit their exact vision. Please note this does incur additional costs, but we always welcome custom design requests. For anything custom, please email us.
