TRIUMPH TRIDENT 660 COMFORT TRIM (2021+)
The Trident 660 seat series is one of our latest trimming designs which improves comfort for the rider whilst visually ‘breaking up’ the massive stock seat on this model for a slimmer visual end result. Comfort is customised to the client’s weight, with different density foam inserts being used to ensure ergonomic improvements.
Our current designs are offered in Nullarbor (a distressed brown) in twin stitched diamonds, and the Oxley (black suede & vinyl) in a short single stitched ribbed insert pattern. As a general rule, the Nullarbor matches nicely to the more neutral Trident colour schemes (Black, White, Grey etc), whilst the Oxley is more classically understated for those models whilst also pairing well with the more aggressive Orange or Black + Neon Green colour schemes.
Visually, the stock seat foam is beautifully shaped, but oversized particularly at the front, with the front lower panel bulking out the side and seat height in a similar way to the Ducati Scrambler seats. Our design works to break up the visual bulk by separating it into 3 core panels; a rider’s insert, a pillion border, and a classic british rear panel. On our Oxley trim, the black suede and black vinyl mix breaks that up further, enhancing the effect and tying in nicely to the Trident’s satin black trimmings.
We also offer custom materials (like Alcantara), insert patterns (like twin stitched diamonds), stitching and material colours if clients are wanting to go the full custom route. For clients where comfort is more important than an increase in ride height, we also offer dual density 24mm insert setups that sit the rider roughly 15mm higher than stock and further improve ride comfort. Modifications generally involve a surcharge, and enquiries should be emailed through directly.
From a provenance perspective, these seat trims are made by hand here in Australia with a mix of American Carrera distressed vinyl, Italian Dinamica synthetic suedes, Dunlop foams and Coats waxed cotton threads from Australia. Our foam inserts are latex backed to maintain flexibility across different densities and insert stitching patterns, and we edge our underside materials in elastic to allow for a clean and simple fitment to the stock seat base. We source all of our materials before making every element of the seat in-house by hand, from marking, cutting, insert stitching, latex backing, embossing and final assembly.
Our core business model around our seats is this: we want to provide world class, made to order handmade Australian upholstery to clients anywhere around the world, whilst noticeably improving comfort on every seat we do. We’re able to do that by designing custom seats that fit perfectly to certain bike model’s existing foam, and producing them on a made to order basis with variable density foam inserts to suit each client’s weight.
We hate the wastage that comes with replacement seat units, from the vastly increased shipping fees and import duties, to the much larger cost of production to replace a perfectly usable seat. Instead of that, we’ve designed our trims to be so easy to fit that our clients can do it themselves anywhere around the world. Alternatively, any furniture or automotive upholsterer could also fit it up locally for a small fee. We tend to love this option for those less interested in learning, as the fitment will always be perfect, and you will always get an honest opinion from a local tradesman on the ease of fitment and quality of our upholstery.
